  5. To celebrate the 52nd birthday of People’s Leader

Due to large scale felling of trees in the last few years, it is seen that it has adverse effect on the people and the environment here. It is strongly felt that trees are not being cultivated by planting trees while cutting down trees. Maharashtra is experiencing a severe drought at present. It is said that drought is not created by nature but is the result of human planning. It is necessary to increase the afforestation area for drought relief and sustainable development of Maharashtra. It is regrettable to mention that several tree plantation programs have been implemented in Maharashtra, a large amount of funds have been spent on it, but the forest plantation area or the forest area has not been able to increase.

20.3 percent of the total geographical area of the state is under the control of the forest department. 70 percent of that area is forested. If only Beed district is considered, the total forest area in the district is 27138 hectares. This is only 2.39 percent of the total geographical area and is much less than the forest covered area of Maharashtra. To maintain the balance of the environment, it is necessary to have 33 percent forest area. Due to the lack of protection of this important forest resource, deforestation and unauthorized encroachment on the forest in Maharashtra, the crisis like rainfall, temperature rise, climate change, water scarcity, drought is increasing in the state. If this is not taken seriously soon, it will not take long for Maharashtra to become a desert in the next few years.

Saint Tukaram Maharaj has told the importance of trees and forests four hundred years ago through his abhanga ‘Vrikshavalli Amha Soyre Vanchare’. For that, if everyone takes the responsibility of planting a tree and taking responsibility for its conservation, then the human being will succeed in preventing the possible threats that Maharashtra is facing and only then the dream of eternal sustainable development can come true. For that, the member voluntary social organizations of MahaNGO in Maharashtra and all of us needed to take positive steps and the state level tree planting and conservation initiative that stood out of it. 52 voluntary social institutions across the state did this activity.

Beloved Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra State and Senior Guide of Maha NGO Federation Respected Mr. Devendraji Fadnavis’ birthday was celebrated on 22 July 2022 through tree plantation campaign in collaboration with Maha NGO Federation. On this occasion, a tree planting resolution was decided on behalf of the Maha NGO Federation and affiliated NGOs across the state and all our social NGOs participated in it and it was well done by Shekhar Mundada, founder of the Maha NG Federation and senior social worker. Thanking Mr. Chandrakantji Rathi is not enough. Rathiji contributes a lot in our every activity and it strengthens the work. On behalf of the family, we express our sincere thanks and gratitude
